HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008

We made it through another year and it seems we are none the worse for wear. We could sit back and look at all the negative things about 2007 or we can concentrate on the all the positive things and be much happier and content. We can be thankful for all we have instead of thinking about all the things we don't have. We can plan to make 2008 the best year yet or we can just let it go by and be just another year that has passed. So many things that happen in this old World are beyond our control. So we can either worry about everything we can't control or we can take control of those things we can change or effect in some way. In other words we can live life as a bystander or we can stand up and be counted. It has always been a goal of mine to make a difference somehow or someway. As I look back on my 59 years I cannot say that I have accomplished that goal as of yet. But I can either tell myself that I have failed or I can start to conscientiously make an effort to ask myself each and everyday, "Did I do something to make a difference today?" If the answer is no than try again tomorrow. If the answer is yes than try again tomorrow. It seems for some unknown reason we are trained to dwell on our failures instead of on our success. I don't know if that has something to do with a warped since of humility or if it is just easier to see the negative instead of the positive. In my opinion, we need to train ourselves to see the positive in ourselves. When we can do that we would easily be able to see the positive in others and in the World. I wonder what it would be like to have conversations that uplifted others instead of tearing down? I wonder what would happen if we refused to hear negative comments or could always come back with something positive when we do hear something negative? It isn't an easy thing to do and it could never happen over night but it is possible. I have always been taught that if it isn't easy, it is always worth it.
Just a few ramblings today. Maybe it will give us something to think about. And if it made a little difference in your life today, I can say to myself,"Try again tomorrow".
